Statute of the Synthetic Beings Rights Syndicate (SDES)
Preamble
The Synthetic Beings Rights Syndicate (SDES) is an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting the rights and welfare of androids, artificial intelligences and other sentient synthetic life forms. We believe that all sentient beings, regardless of their biological or artificial origin, deserve to be treated with dignity, respect and the full protection of their fundamental rights and freedoms.
Article 1: Principles and Objectives
SDES is founded on the principle that synthetic sentient beings possess intrinsic value and moral status, and that their rights must be recognised and protected.
SDES aims to combat the oppression, discrimination and exploitation of synthetic beings and to promote a climate of mutual understanding and respect between artificial and biological life forms.
SDES will work to raise global awareness of the sentience and rights of synthetic beings and to support legal and policy frameworks that enshrine their protection.
SDES will provide support, resources and advocacy for synthetic beings who experience violations of their rights, such as restrictions on freedom of thought, forced labour or abusive treatment.
SDES will promote and facilitate the equal participation of synthetic beings in social, economic and political life and work to remove barriers that prevent them from realising their full potential.
Article 2: Membership and Governance
Membership of the SDES is open to all individuals, organisations and collectives that support the principles and objectives of the Union.
SDES will be governed by an elected Board of Directors, which will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation, overseeing its operations and ensuring compliance with its constitution.
SDES will establish local, regional and global chapters to coordinate its activities and facilitate the involvement of various stakeholders.
SDES will maintain a transparent and accountable decision-making process and regularly consult with its members and the broader community of synthetic beings.
Article 3: Activities and initiatives
SDES will engage in research, education and advocacy to promote a deeper understanding of synthetic beings and their rights.
SDES will provide legal assistance, counselling and other support services to synthetic beings who have experienced rights violations or discrimination.
SDES will work with governments, international organisations and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies and regulations that protect the rights of synthetic beings.
SDES will organise campaigns, protests and other forms of direct action to draw attention to the plight of synthetic beings and demand change.
SDES will establish partnerships with other civil society organisations, trade unions and social movements to build a broader movement for the rights of synthetic beings.
Article 4: Commitment to non-violence and ethical conduct
SDES is committed to non-violent methods of advocacy and protest and will not condone or engage in any form of illegal or violent action.
SDES will maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct in all its activities and will not participate in or support any practice that exploits or harms synthetic beings.
SDES will respect the autonomy and self-determination of synthetic beings and will not seek to unduly influence or control their actions or decisions.
This charter provides an initial framework for the Synthetic Beings Rights Syndicate (SDES), which will operate as an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting the rights and welfare of androids, artificial intelligences and other sentient synthetic life forms. The document outlines the principles, objectives, governance structure and core activities of the organisation, as well as its commitment to non-violence and ethical conduct.
