Let us contemplate and savor the last few years as we roll toward the ‘theatre of the Absurd’ 2012 Presidential race. What are the priorities of the Obama administration and do they have anything to do with serving America and building her up?

First of all, the wars

Libya

Rather than find a clear and honorable way to conclude the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan after 10 years of clearing out Islamic terrorists, watching thousands of our troops die and building infrastructure, Obama bypasses congress completely, rushes to the ‘international and Muslim influenced’ UN for leadership and rushes the U.S. into a 3rd war, in Libya.

Remember, when this started in, Gadaffi hadn’t attacked America and wasn’t at war with our allies. They were having a civil war, a war between extremist groups. It was soon revealed that the ‘freedom fighters’ he was taking on were only linked with Al Kaeda. They also wanted freedom from Gaddaffi. Now, does that mean America jumps into the middle of their war and starts shooting missiles and spending hundreds of millions? Apparently with Obama it does, while he pretends to be Mother Theresa in all this.

In the beginning of this Libyan disaster, ‘Operation Unified Protector’ we were spending 100 million a day lobbing missiles through Libya. Only this week the Pentagon is admitting that the war costs are soaring. Gee, what a shock. Even though we are working under NATO, as usual the US is doing most of the work and spending most of the money. You do the math! We are doing 70% of the reconnaissance missions and 75% of refueling flights. According to the Pentagon’s numbers, the military has shot off 228 missiles by May at 1.5 million a piece in expense. Any money left for coffee?

The Department of Defense has confirmed that Libyan military operations have cost American tax payers $664,000,000 so far. The bottom line is that this war will be a bottomless hole of billions spent…..again. This time with no approval and support of congress and the America people. Our military is the absolute best and bravest in the world AND this war is a waste of money, talent our military and a complete sham.

Regarding the other wars, Iraq and Afghanistan

We have spent hundreds of billions taking on Islamic radicals and helping to stabilize new Government structures in Afghanistan and Iraq. Bravo to our amazing troops! There will never be a perfect Government situation in each country. Their military and leadership core is not always functioning right, but, they are functioning and can survive now.

It is time to create a 6 month time line to bring our heroic troops home and leave Iraqi and Afghanistan leadership to stand on their own. This can work for them and the US but we have to finally get clear with Islamic radicalism and fundamentalism here and through out the Middle East with our message. Our political correctness and dependency on OPEC oil is getting us killed and playing entirely into Muslim radical’s hands.

We need a loud, clear and very public policy shouted at the roof tops to Islamic leaders around the world, Iran, Syria, Hamas, Fatah, Saudia Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey et al….

“Regardless of what branch of Islam or Islamic expression you identify with, if you attack an American or her alleys in the U.S. or abroad, we will quickly find you and hold you accountable. There will be no discussion with the UN, Islamic leaders, OPEC or Media. Those who strike America and her allies, especially Israel, will find themselves destroyed.”

We must also let Islamic leadership know that any attack on Israel will be a bold attack on the US and be prepared for harsh and swift retaliation by the US not just Israel.

Back to bringing our troops home

Our country has contributed for 10 years to wiping out Islamic terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan.. Islamic radicals who want a world wide Caliphate are peppered throughout all the Islamic countries. We can’t be at war everywhere, so what do we do then? As I said before. We have a VERY CLEAR message as to the swift cost of striking America, her allies and interests. We build up the strongest military in the world again. We undo the stupid, START treaty with Russia, build up our military budget and research, while, boldly making the U.S. military number one in every area. We can walk softly, with compassion and honor, BUT WITH ALL THE EVIL AND RADICAL MISSION OF MUCH OF ISLAM WE MUST CARRY A BIGGER STICK…….AND BE READY TO USE IT.

We have seen the hundreds of billions wasted in wars but what about jobs and our economy

Where are the jobs President Obama?

Obama takes credit for creating 2 million jobs the last few years. There were some temporary census worker type jobs, but 2 million??? That figure makes the old classic TV show, Fantasy Island, look real. The truth is, our economy is plunging back into a double dip recession. Jobless numbers are going higher. Foreclosures are increasing and home values going lower. Our economy is very sick and tilting. Whose fault is it now Obama? President Bush again? Perhaps, Sarah Palin caused it by shooting a Moose in Alaska somewhere.

The bottom line is that if Obama actually gave a damn about our country he would have made it a quick priority to pursue energy independence and approve the hundreds of energy projects waiting for years for his ‘on high’ approval to start in. He would have shown leadership in this area and a quick way to get unhitched and independent from OPEC. Obama would have been rapidly building natural gas infrastructure, creating affordable options with how to fill up our tanks. But no….remember, Obama said he was looking forward to 4 and 5 dollar a gallon gas. I don’t know anyone else in America who likes it!!!

In 2012 America must put American priorities back at her helm.

1. Tax overhaul and massive relieve for all
2. Total energy independence from OPEC
3. Stop talking about it and secure all our borders. Stop the 200 billion a year drug flow, illegal aliens from around the world pouring across our borders. Deal, compassionately, yet realistically with those already here.
4. Court U.S. manufacturing back from around the world by reigning in the ‘unholy Trinity’ regulation, taxation and litigation. Allow freedom to build business again.
5. Repeal and destroy the unconstitutional Health care bill.
6. Create real jobs by the millions by creating massive energy infrastructure projects, road and bridge improvement projects in all 50 states.
7. Take a real, consistent and bold stand against Islamic radicalism and other enemies to America and her allies.

In 2012 we must put courage, integrity, Americanism, Godliness and common sense back in the White House. Our freedom and country depends on it…..NO, the world depends on it. It has come to our attention that a NATO draft report has classified Anonymous a potential „threat to member states’ security”, and that you seek retaliation against us.

It is true that Anonymous has committed what you would call ‘cyber-attacks’ in protest against several military contractors, companies, lawmakers, and governments, and has continuously sought to fight against threats to our freedoms on the Internet. And since you consider state control of the Internet to be in the best interest of the various nations of your military alliance, you therefore consider us a potential threat to international security.

So we would like to make it clear that we, in reality, pose no threat to the people of your nations. Anonymous is not a reckless swarm attacking the websites of governments and companies out of hatred or spite. We fight for freedom. For ourselves, and the people of the world, we seek to preserve the liberty granted to the millions of people who have found it on the Internet.

In your draft, you mention the „data intelligence company” HBGary Federal, and how they were hacked by Anonymous. You use this as justification that we are a threat. What you conveniently fail to mention is that HBGary itself was engaged in illegal activity, including but not limited to: being contracted by the United States Chamber of Commerce to spy on & discredit unions and progressive groups, being contracted by the Bank of America to launch a campaign of misinformation against Wikileaks and it’s supporters (going so far as to blackmail journalists), developing a new type of Windows rootkit to spy upon individuals, and developing astroturfing software that could make an army of fake social media profiles to manipulate and sway public opinion on controversial issues.

That this company which „tries to protect the US Government from hackers” was partaking in such illegal activity against ordinary, uninvolved citizens, whether it be for „the aid of security” or not, is completely disgraceful and utterly unacceptable.

We care not whether the actions we have taken in this struggle have complied with laws of the United States or any other country. What your lot fail to understand is that we live in cyberspace. The only laws that apply are the laws set forth by our individual consciences. We break your nations’ laws when we recognize those laws to stand between the people and their freedom.

Anonymous is not simply „a group of super hackers”. Anonymous is the embodiment of freedom on the web. We exist as a result of the Internet, and humanity itself. This frightens you. It only seems natural that it would. Governments, corporations, and militaries know how to control individuals. It frustrates you that you do not control us. We have moved to a world where our freedom is in our own hands. We owe you nothing for it. We stand for freedom for every person around the world. You stand in our way.

For those of you who did not watch yesterdayfs monetary policy hearing in the house of representatives, you most likely missed this bombshell exchange between Federal Reserve lawyer Scott Alvarez and committee chairman Dr. Ron Paul. My jaw literally dropped when I heard the Fedfs general counsel declare that the Federal Reserve owns no gold. After 1934, Alvarez explains that the Fed handed its gold over to the Treasury in exchange for gold certificates. When pressed further, Alvarez noted that the gold certificates do not represent any interest whatsoever in the gold itself. He explained the gold certificate listings on the Fed balance sheet, not as a claim to gold, but at most a claim to dollars from the Treasury. When Roosevelt convinced Congress to pass the Agriculture Re-Adjustment Act aka The Emergency War Powers Act in 1933..there was an exclusion of "American Citizens".. The Constitution forbid 'aggressive acts' against We, the People.

Thats right. The Fed owns NO gold. Zero, zip, ziltch.

For those of you who did not watch yesterdayfs monetary policy hearing in the house of representatives, you most likely missed this bombshell exchange between Federal Reserve lawyer Scott Alvarez and committee chairman Dr. Ron Paul. My jaw literally dropped when I heard the Fedfs general counsel declare that the Federal Reserve owns no gold. After 1934, Alvarez explains that the Fed handed its gold over to the Treasury in exchange for gold certificates. When pressed further, Alvarez noted that the gold certificates do not represent any interest whatsoever in the gold itself. He explained the gold certificate listings on the Fed balance sheet, not as a claim to gold, but at most a claim to dollars from the Treasury. This issue is even more complicated than may appear and after doing some research we seem to have settled some of the quirks in this odd Treasury-Fed scheme. Bare with us when reading through this.

What appears to have happened under the Gold Reserve Act of 1934 [ http://www.famguardian.org/Subjects/MoneyBanking/Money/LegHistory/48Stat337-344.pdf ] is the Treasury seized the Fedfs gold, taking full ownership and claim to its proceeds. The Treasury as an aside transferred a sum of special 1934 series gold certificates to the Fed amounting to the statutory value of gold ($20.67 per ounce) times the quantity of gold transfered from the Fed to the Treasury. The official gold price was later revalued to $35 an ounce, an effective devaluation of the currency, but the quantity of gold certificates issued to the Fed was not amended to reflect revaluation until the passing of the Par Value Modification Act of 1972. Under this act, gold was revalued again, this time to $38 an oz, and the Fedfs gold certificate account was credited upwards by $822 million worth of certificates to reflect the change in the gold price from $35 to $38. The gold was revalued one last time in 1973 to $42.22 and again the Federal Reserve was credited with more gold certificates, $1.157 billion to be exact, to account for this. After everything, the Federal Reserve was left with $11.16 billion dollars worth of gold certificates.

So what exactly are the gold certificates the Fed holds? For one, the Fedfs gold certificates are unlike previous gold certificate issues, and are not publicly trade-able. They are also not direct claims to gold, but rather reflect claims only to US issued currency or coin held by the Treasury. The Fed can take claim to this currency on demand, and their certificates are an accounted for liability of the Treasury as listed in Note 19. Treasuryfs gOther Liabilitiesh. In addition, if the Treasury is unable to satisfy a demand by the Fed for the funds, the Fed is able to gain access to the gold, since the gold stands as collateral for the gold certificates issued by the Treasury. This fact is taken from this statement in Note 2, from the Treasuryfs balance sheet:

gGold totaling $11.1 billion as of September 30, 2010, and 2009, was pledged as collateral for gold certificates issued and authorized to the FRBs by the Secretary of the Treasury.g

Given that the Fed has an indirect claim to the Treasuryfs gold, it is questionable what line of reasoning the Fedfs general counsel was using when stating so broadly that the Fed has gno interest in the gold that is owned by the treasuryh.

I was filmed on May 25 by an Israeli TV show, BuzzTV. Producer Ronit Melamed was very persistent that I do a Skype-linked tv interview but I told her on several occasions that I didn't have the equipment. Nonetheless, she urged me to find it, and in the end my webmaster Steven set up a little tv studio in my living room. After 6 years I was back on Israeli tv.
Ronit prepared me for the show a week in advance. She asked me if I had ever written about Elhanan Tannenbaum. As it happened, I had. Before I tell you how, let's get some of my background research:

> The desperation fueling this energy reached a new peak this week when our government handed 435 highly motivated terrorists to Hizbullah for the bodies of three soldiers murdered by the same Hizbullah and one live Mossad agent. Of the living Elhanan Tannenbaum, a lieutenant colonel in the IDF, we know from the Jerusalem Post that he, "worked as a consultant for a major arms firm which deals with the Defence Ministry's most sensitive technology...The firm's records were destroyed in a fire that gutted its basement in July, 2001...They have maintained that Elhanan served his country more than anyone imagines and more than they can publicly say."
> Or in other words, he was not just the crooked businessman the public has been fed to believe. The government released 435 of the enemy, and has reportedly promised to release another 3000 or so for one of its own agents. In return, Israel received three bodies and conducted a vulgar and tasteless televised ceremony on their behalf, and not a few people wondered if they even were the real bodies. The doubts stem from the fact that body parts snatcher Dr. Yehuda Hiss, the same pathologist who changed Yitzhak Rabin's wounds in his tainted autopsy report, was the one chosen to verify the veracity of the corpses through DNA testing. Yehuda Weiss and Abu Kabir Forensic Institute head Prof. Yehuda Hiss, is bringing DNA samples of the family members of the fallen soldiers Adi Avitan, Benny Avraham and Omar Souad."

In November 2000, I was invited to present by knowledge of the Tannenbaum kidnapping at a hush-hush meeting of mid-level IDF officers who were prepared to oust Ehud Barak from the prime minister's office if he didn't take action to rescue Tannenbaum. They were talking coup:

Certain officers now understood that Barak was under international orders not to utililize the IDF to defend the nation or avenge the murders
of its citizens. The first grumblings of "coup" were heard. The final straw was Hizbullah's kidnapping of Colonel Tannenbaum.
The officers knew that he was being tortured and forced to reveal the names, addresses and all details of IDF staff, strategy, equipment and
facilities. They summoned Barak to mount an operation inside Lebanon involving mass hostage taking to secure the release of Tannenbaum but were again rebuffed
by Barak. Not knowing which demoralizing IDF fiasco was next and fearing that Israelis would take to the streets to secure the protection their army was
forbidden to provide, high level but still informal discussions to plan a Barak overthrow gained momentum.

Ronit surmised accurately that I did not buy into the final conclusion that Tannenbaum wasn't working for the Mossad when he was kidnapped. He was just a lowly drug dealer:

Elhanan Tannenbaum, the Israeli businessman who was kidnapped by Hizbullah operatives in 2001, told a Tel Aviv court on Wednesday that he had sought to seal a drugs deal worth USD 200,000 with the organization.
Tannenbaum told the court that upon his return to Israel he didn't tell interrogators that he had traveled to Dubai to finalize a drugs deal.
Elhanan Tannenbaum was captured after being lured under the false pretenses of a drug deal. He was traveling on a forged passport. Tannenbaum's capture was announced on 16 October 2000.
His capture is believed to have been conducted by Imad Mugniyah, a senior member of Hezbollah. The capture was uted by Sheik Kais Obeid, an Israeli Arab, a grandson of former Knesset member Diyab Obeid, who crossed the lines to become senior officer for Hezbollah. Obeid was a close friend of Tannenbaum.
Tannenbaum was released in January 2004 as part of a prisoner swap with Hezbollah. The swap, mediated by Germany, resulted in the exchange of 435 prisoners held by Israel in return for Tannenbaum's release and the return of the bodies of three soldiers killed during an ambush along the Israeli-Lebanese border.[1] Following his release, Tannenbaum was placed under arrest for his illegal actions that led up to his capture. He agreed to a plea-bargain and admitted to the reasons behind his travel to Dubai and described the details of his capture. In exchange, he was not tried for any crime and served no jail time.[2] Among the 435 people released were Mustafa Dirani and Sheikh Abdul-Karim Obeid. These two individuals were kidnapped, in 1994 and 1989 respectively, for use as bargaining chips in the effort to secure the release of the most famous of the Israeli MIAs, Ron Arad. Fearing the release of these men would end any hope of finding Arad, his family attempted to take legal action to prevent their release. Nothing came of this effort.In December 2006, Tannenbaum, for the first time, admitted that he went to Dubai to complete a drug deal. He had expected to make $200,000 (€152,000) on the deal.[3]

I suspiciously asked her why she was doing a feature on Tennenbaum, a minor scandal compared to the coverups of the murder and murder in name of Rabin and Sharon. She replied that perhaps a similar deal as Tannenbaum's could be used to rescue the kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit. I told her, "There's one huge difference. Tannenbaum was alive and could be rescued, while Shalit is dead and can't."
She was shocked. "Who says?" she asked.
"Anyone with an ounce of reality."
"Have you researched Shalit?"
"Enough to speak about it," I replied. Shalit's kidnapping had been sufficiently scandalous to bear examination:

Maj.-Gen (Ret) Giora Eiland traced the breakdown which allowed a Hamas-led squad overrun an Israeli army post on the Israeli side of the southern Gaza border, kill two soldiers and snatch Corporal Gilad Shalit on June 25, to an “operational” breakdown. He did not lay it at the door of commanders and their conduct.
“None of them lied or failed to perform their duties,” said Gen. Eiland, former national security adviser, in the report on the inquiry the chief of staff entrusted him to carry into the causes of the incident at the Kerem Shalom post. Most damningly, Eilat affirmed that the corporal’s abduction could have been aborted. The kidnappers and their hostage were clearly visible on the unit’s electronic screens as they crossed the border into the Gaza Strip, but the tank commander delayed by first asking his superior for permission to open fire and abort their flight...What more logical than to put IDF ambushes squads behind enemy lines to trap the assailants when they return to their base in Gaza? Knowing they might be there, the Hamas-led kidnap team would have realized its escape route with Shalit was blocked and might have been deterred from the abduction.

My interview was with Ziv Ben-Tsvi. He first asked me to say that I knew I was being filmed and I was handing them the right to edit me as they choose. I jokingly repeated the vow until the end which I changed to, "and you can exploit me with my permission." He looked stunned by my agreement but I knew what to expect from the Israeli media. Somewhere there was going to be a trap. The media is largely leftist and they are arrogant enough to believe their reality IS reality. Very quickly I understood my role: I would play the radical conspiracy nut and they would tear me apart intellectually, thus proving for all time that Tannenbaum was a drug dealer and not an intelligence agent like the nutty conspiracy nuts nutttily think.
But they didn't get that angle. I was calm, friendly and accurate. Here are a few quotes from me:
"Tannenbaum was an advisor for an arms firm whose records were destroyed just before Tannenbaum's trial in 2001. What are the odds? He admits he was a major drug dealer in court and is not sentenced to prison time. He cut a deal to stay out of jail by making up an alternative story to keep the public's interest off the fiasco of the real operation."
"Do you think the Israeli government would trade 435 prisoners to rescue a drug dealer?"
"The bodies the dead soldiers were fluffy icing on the cake. They were another diversion to keep the population comatose."

Ben-Tsvi answered me in simplistic terms. "Tannenbaum admitted he was in Beirut to seal a big drug deal. Why can't you believe him?"
"Because," I replied, "A colonel in the IDF is not permitted to visit an enemy country. That crime alone would have landed in prison for a long time."
Ben-Tsvi finally relented a lot. "Let's say you're right and Tannenbaum was working for the Mossad, (which I never actually said), then what was the security harm of his rescue?"
I replied, "All the prisoners promised not to return to terrorism and most did as soon as they got back to Lebanon. Scores of Israelis became their victims again."

Then came the issue of Gilad Shalit whose 1800th day in captivity was commemorated this week. Ronit told me to present my findings, but Ben-Tsvi wanted nothing to do with them.
"Listen, " I said. "Before he became a 'drug dealer', the media was reporting that Tannenbaum was in Beirut to rescue Ron Arad. (A long deceased captured airman). And that story makes more sense than him being a major drug seller. And just like Arad, Shalit is dead and it's dangerous politics to say so."
Ben-Tsvi looked interested and let me continue.
"We know the nature of our enemy but Israelis are ignoring that, for reasons I can't fathom. Barely two years ago Israel attacked Gaza in a massive operation. Shalit's recovery should have been a condition of withdrawal. Instead, Israel walked out without Shalit. Either the IDF cares nothing about its captured soldiers or in the highest ranks, they knew Shalit was dead.
If you kidnap someone and intend to keep him alive, you agree to let outsiders, Germany, the Red Cross, see him and bring back proof of his safety. It's been years without word from Shalit and you know why that is."
As does everyone reading this. We have to face it.

The objective of the war against Libya is not just its oil reserves (now estimated at 60 billion barrels), which are the greatest in Africa and whose extraction costs are among the lowest in the world, nor the natural gas reserves of which are estimated at about 1,500 billion cubic meters. In the crosshairs of "willing" of the operation “Unified Protector” there are sovereign wealth funds, capital that the Libyan state has invested abroad. The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) manages sovereign wealth funds estimated at about $70 billion U.S., rising to more than $150 billion if you include foreign investments of the Central Bank and other bodies. But it might be more. Even if they are lower than those of Saudi Arabia or Kuwait, Libyan sovereign wealth funds have been characterized by their rapid growth. When LIA was established in 2006, it had $40 billion at its disposal. In just five years, LIA has invested over one hundred companies in North Africa, Asia, Europe, the U.S. and South America: holding, banking, real estate, industries, oil companies and others. In Italy, the main Libyan investments are those in UniCredit Bank (of which LIA and the Libyan Central Bank hold 7.5 percent), Finmeccanica (2 percent) and ENI (1 percent), these and other investments (including 7.5 percent of the Juventus Football Club) have a significance not as much economically (they amount to some $5.4 billion) as politically. Libya, after Washington removed it from the blacklist of “rogue states,” has sought to carve out a space at the international level focusing on "diplomacy of sovereign wealth funds." Once the U.S. and the EU lifted the embargo in 2004 and the big oil companies returned to the country, Tripoli was able to maintain a trade surplus of about $30 billion per year which was used largely to make foreign investments. The management of sovereign funds has however created a new mechanism of power and corruption in the hands of ministers and senior officials, which probably in part escaped the control of the Gadhafi himself: This is confirmed by the fact that, in 2009, he proposed that the 30 billion in oil revenues go "directly to the Libyan people." This aggravated the fractures within the Libyan government. U.S. and European ruling circles focused on these funds, so that before carrying out a military attack on Libya to get their hands on its energy wealth, they took over the Libyan sovereign wealth funds. Facilitating this operation is the representative of the Libyan Investment Authority, Mohamed Layas himself: as revealed in a cable published by WikiLeaks. On January 20 Layas informed the U.S. ambassador in Tripoli that LIA had deposited $32 billion in U.S. banks. Five weeks later, on February 28, the U.S. Treasury “froze” these accounts. According to official statements, this is "the largest sum ever blocked in the United States," which Washington held "in trust for the future of Libya." It will in fact serve as an injection of capital into the U.S. economy, which is more and more in debt. A few days later, the EU "froze" around 45 billion Euros of Libyan funds. The assault on the Libyan sovereign wealth funds will have a particularly strong impact in Africa. There, the Libyan Arab African Investment Company had invested in over 25 countries, 22 of them in sub-Saharan Africa, and was planning to increase the investments over the next five years, especially in mining, manufacturing, tourism and telecommunications. The Libyan investments have been crucial in the implementation of the first telecommunications satellite Rascom (Regional African Satellite Communications Organization), which entered into orbit in August 2010, allowing African countries to begin to become independent from the U.S. and European satellite networks, with an annual savings of hundreds of millions of dollars. Even more important were the Libyan investment in the implementation of three financial institutions launched by the African Union: the African Investment Bank, based in Tripoli, the African Monetary Fund, based in Yaoundé (Cameroon), the African Central Bank, with Based in Abuja (Nigeria). The development of these bodies would enable African countries to escape the control of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, tools of neo-colonial domination, and would mark the end of the CFA franc, the currency that 14 former French colonies are forced to use. Freezing Libyan funds deals a strong blow to the entire project. WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- World Bank President Robert Zoellick Thursday said he hopes the institution will have a role rebuilding Libya as it emerges from current unrest.

Zoellick at a panel discussion noted the bank's early role in the reconstruction of France, Japan and other nations after World War II.

"Reconstruction now means (Ivory Coast), it means southern Sudan, it means Liberia, it means Sri Lanka, I hope it will mean Libya," Zoellick said.

We listen to U.S. spokespeople try to explain why we’re suddenly now entangled in another Middle East war. Many of us find ourselves questioning the official justifications. We are aware that the true causes of our engagement are rarely discussed in the media or by our government.

While many of the rationalizations describe resources, especially oil, as the reasons why we should be in that country, there are also an increasing number of dissenting voices. For the most part, these revolve around Libya’s financial relationship with the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), and multinational corporations.

According to the IMF, Libya’s Central Bank is 100% state owned. The IMF estimates that the bank has nearly 144 tons of gold in its vaults. It is significant that in the months running up to the UN resolution that allowed the US and its allies to send troops into Libya, Muammar al-Qaddafi was openly advocating the creation of a new currency that would rival the dollar and the euro. In fact, he called upon African and Muslim nations to join an alliance that would make this new currency, the gold dinar, their primary form of money and foreign exchange. They would sell oil and other resources to the US and the rest of the world only for gold dinars.

The US, the other G-8 countries, the World bank, IMF, BIS, and multinational corporations do not look kindly on leaders who threaten their dominance over world currency markets or who appear to be moving away from the international banking system that favors the corporatocracy. Saddam Hussein had advocated policies similar to those expressed by Qaddafi shortly before the US sent troops into Iraq.

In my talks, I often find it necessary to remind audiences of a point that seems obvious to me but is misunderstood by so many: that the World Bank is not really a world bank at all; it is, rather a U. S. bank. Ditto, its closest sibling, the IMF. In fact, if one looks at the World Bank and IMF utive boards and the votes each member of the board has, one sees that the United States controls about 16 percent of the votes in the World Bank (Compared with Japan at about 7%, the second largest member, Germany with 4%, at third place, and the United Kingdom and France with about 3.8% each, tied for fourth place ), nearly 17% of the IMF votes (Compared with Japan and Germany at about 6% and UK and France at nearly 5%), and the US holds veto power over all major decisions. Furthermore, the United States President appoints the World Bank President.

So, we might ask ourselves: What happens when a “rogue” country threatens to bring the banking system that benefits the corporatocracy to its knees? What happens to an “empire” when it can no longer effectively be overtly imperialistic?

One definition of “Empire” (per my book The Secret History of the American Empire) states that an empire is a nation that dominates other nations by imposing its own currency on the lands under its control. The empire maintains a large standing military that is ready to protect the currency and the entire economic system that depends on it through extreme violence, if necessary. The ancient Romans did this. So did the Spanish and the British during their days of empire-building. Now, the US (NdR: Like when during the Italian occupation in WWII using AM-LIRE) or, more to the point, the corporatocracy, is doing it and is determined to punish any individual who tries to stop them. Qaddafi is but the latest example.

Understanding the war against Quaddafi as a war in defense of empire is another step in the direction of helping us ask ourselves whether we want to continue along this path of empire-building. Or do we instead want to honor the democratic principles we are taught to believe are the foundations of our country?

History teaches that empires do not endure; they collapse or are overthrown. Wars ensue and another empire fills the vacuum. The past sends a compelling message. We must change. We cannot afford to watch history repeat itself.

Let us not allow this empire to collapse and be replaced by another. Instead, let us all vow to create a new consciousness. Let the grass-roots movements in the Middle East – fostered by the young who must live with the future and are fueled through social networks – inspire us to demand that our country, our financial institutions and the corporations that depend on us to buy their goods and services commit themselves to fashioning a world that is sustainable, just, peaceful, and prosperous for all.

We stand at the threshold. It is time for you and me to step across that threshold, to move out of the dark void of brutal exploitation and greed into the light of compassion and cooperation.

Venerdì 15 aprile si sono quindi presentati al mio studio detto fondatore di Insieme per Napoli e il suo fiduciario per chiedermi una delega notarile per la presentazione di FLB&N. Non potendo certo immaginare il loro intento (anche perché stupidamente suicida), ho provveduto. Sennonché, sabato, da un giornale, ho visto che hanno usato la mia delega per presentare sì il simbolo di FLB&N, ma come ‘mosca’, unitamente agli altri tre, sotto al simbolo a tutto campo di Insieme per Napoli, di cui ho appreso in quel momento (come segue). Cose che (sia pure informalmente per non causare decadenze della lista alle quali non mi presterei) sono ora costretto a contestare, e non per questioni di meri centimetri, ma perché l’adesione al mio simbolo avrebbe evidenziato una conversione alle mie tesi senza la quale non avrei potuto addivenire a quel connubio, mentre accettare la sotto-posizione del mio simbolo a quello di
Insieme per Napoli, significherebbe una mia inconcepibile conversione alle ‘tesi’ (?) del suo fondatore. ‘Tesi’ tra cui quelle simbolizzate, per cominciare, dall’aver reso illeggibile sul simbolo la parola «banche», cambiandolo così in Fermiamo Il Nucleare, forse per convincermi che si possa fermare il nucleare anche senza prima fermare le banche, nonostante siano le proprietarie di tutto: dagli occhiali che abbiamo sul naso - scrivevo nel 1985- alle centrali. Una frode avvenuta dopoché i responsabili delle ‘forze politiche’ che compongono il simbolo presentato hanno a lungo recitato concordemente la commedia (così ricca di scene e personaggi che mancavano solo Totò e Peppino) che sarebbe invece stato presentato il simbolo con FLB&N a pieno campo e il loro sotto: condizione che avevo posto come inderogabile. Tutto ciò, oltre che nelle amichevoli cene fino a tarda notte e negli incontri, anche nei vani di quella che - in virtù di un contratto di locazione di cui ho per fortuna differito la firma - sarebbe dovuta diventare, a mie spese (avevo già acquistato e fatto consegnare buona parte dei mobili), la sede di FLB&N. Perché? Perché - dopo avermi coinvolto per avere il mio sostegno economico e usarmi come scudo, attrazione e collante - non si voleva il grande risultato a cui miravo io (perché sarebbe stato mio), bensì un risultato ‘a propria misura’ da barattare poi politicamente. L’altro motivo è però che – così come «l’uomo più brutto» di nietzschiana memoria non rinunzia per questo a ornarsi, non di una, ma di ben tre larghe cinture di porpora, e a porsi gorgogliante di prosopopea in cima al masso più alto per farsi rimirare – anche qui, benché non si veda nella politica altro che un modo per sottrarsi a un normale lavoro, non si rinunzia lo stesso a volersi sentire politici del futuro e risolutori dei drammi della società, nella fattispecie napoletana. Come mai non ci si è preoccupati delle mie reazioni? Perché si è così dominati dall’istinto di addentare qualcosa da credere lo siano tutti, e quindi anch’io, per cui si è ritenuto che, di fronte alla ‘garanzia’ (figurarsi..) che «comunque i candidati erano tutti di FLB&N e avrebbero ‘quindi’ messo il risultato elettorale a mia disposizione», avrei ‘abbozzato’ pur di incassare alla fine qualcosa. Un tipo di logica che però, com’è noto, non ho mai praticato, perché, è vero che, vestito dei miei panni ideologici vado per necessità a casa di tutti, ma sono sempre andato subito via quando avrei dovuto compiere gesti che non condividevo; come quando, nel 1996, mi sono dimesso da Forza Italia rinunziando alla ‘brillante carriera’ che, con un po’ di salamelecchi, sarei, credo, riuscito a fare. Come mai non ho valutato prima il mio interlocutore? Ebbene, non è questo il punto. Detto infatti che non smentisco nulla di quello che ho scritto a riguardo in campo giudiziario (la giustizia, specie napoletana, trova il modo di mettersi dalla parte del torto sempre e con chiunque), da un lato la perfezione è divina e, dall’altro, perle granché luminose tra i nostri politici non ce ne sono. Per cui, giacché non posso certo rinunziare a voler cambiare il mondo, cerco di usare quel che si trova perché l’occidentalesimo è basato sul pentimento, e quindi - così come si convertì la Maddalena, e visto che anche la Madonna era incinta, e non di Giuseppe - il punto è, insomma, che convertito che si fosse, andrebbe bene chiunque. Come mai sono stato così ingenuo a credere a questa conversione? Beh, intanto, se un individuo si gioca il tutto per tutto per ingannarti, può capitare che ci riesca; ma soprattutto, a un certo punto bisogna pur fidarsi, sennò diviene impossibile fare qualsiasi cosa. A parte poi che dietro la mia ingenuità ci sono le mie certezze e la mia forza, e quindi non ho paura di niente e di nessuno perché so pur sempre come risolvere per me e per gli altri, e tutto diviene allora materiale per le mie analisi e le mie opere. Se non mi spiacciono le delusioni? Si.. ..è come un pizzico, ...a volte una stretta; ...ma l’importante è proseguire.
